It’s getting down to crunch time in the college football season. Last week saw seismic upsets all across the country, as five top 10 teams lost, including three top five teams. This week could be a similar story when it comes to upsets. The #24 ranked Stanford Cardinal face bitter rival California in “The Big Game.” The game is being played in Berkeley, where the Cal Golden Bears have played extremely well all year. Although Stanford is ranked, they’re not the typical Stanford team, so look for the Golden Bears to take back the “Stanford Axe,” which is the trophy given to the winner of this annual rivalry.
Here are some other games to look out for today. The Oklahoma Sooners, ranked at #9 even after two losses, travel to Morgantown, where they’ll meet #14 West Virginia in front of a raucous crowd. The Mountaineers are a disrespected team, and they’ll be ready to pounce on the Sooners. Then, after a shocking loss to Penn State, #2 Ohio State is back in the College Football Playoff mix, but they now head to East Lansing to battle the 3-7 Michigan State Spartans. It’s been a terrible year for the Spartans, but over the last few years, they are the one team that always gives Urban Meyer and his Buckeyes a tough test. Today, they’ll play in snowy and windy conditions, and that’s a setting that has all the makings of an upset.
