Orioles keep offensive attack going, Crush Yankees

After a rough start to a very important series with the Yankees, the Orioles soon picked up where they left off vs St Louis. The O’s blasted 3 more home runs today, and beat the Yankees 11-3.

The Orioles trailed early in the 1st, but tied it quickly at 1-1. Then started the weirdest inning all year for the O’s. Two soft hits put runners on first and third with 1 out. With Martin Prado hitting, the runner on first took off. Caleb Joseph through to second, and got the runner caught in a rundown. After a couple of throws, they through to third and had that runner caught as well. Manny Machado looked to be able to gun down the runner, only for his throw to hit Carlos Beltran’s helmet, and rolled everywhere allowing not only Beltran to score, but also Chase Headley from first! Two errors on 1 play is something the Orioles rarely do.

Later in the game, a scary moment for any Orioles fan watching occurred. After hitting a slow grounder to short, trying to run to first, Manny Machado’s knee seemed to buckle, and he went down hard. He was on the ground for quite awhile, and it was very scary, as he injured his knee, and although not the same one he had surgery on last year, still very scary.

Chris Davis came in to replace Machado after not starting in tonight’s game. In his 1st at bat, Davis sent a towering moon shot close to Eutaw Street, bringing Camden Yards alive. The bullpen held the 4-3 lead, and after a Adam Jones RBI double, Nelson Cruz hit his 31 homer deep into the Yankees bullpen, giving the O’s a 7-3 lead.
The Orioles were not done though. Yankees killer Jonathan Schoop joined the homer party with a 3 run lasor shot of his own making it 10-3 O’s. David Lough helped out by getting an RBI single making it 11-3. That would go on to be the final score, as the O’s pummeled the Yanks. The Orioles now have a 7 game lead on the 3rd place Yankees and a 5.5 game lead depending on the Jays outcome vs Kind Felix tonight.

The O’s continue their surge, and separation from the rest of the East. Just think. Tonight, you’ll go to bed with the small market Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, and Oakland Athletics in 1st place, and the deep pocketed Detroit Tigers and Anaheim Angels playing the Wild Card play in game. Who saw that coming?
