The long 162 game chase for the playoffs is over. It’s finally time to see who has what it takes, to claim the world series crown. For some, this is a yearly occurrence. If you’re a Tigers, Cardinals, or Dodgers fan, your team has been in October a lot the last few years. The same cannot be said if you root for the Royals, Pirates, or Orioles. Tonight in Kansas City, the 29 year wait for playoff baseball is over.
The last time the Royals made the playoffs was 1985. They won the world series that year, but it’s been a struggle ever since. You can bet Kaufmann Stadium will be rocking tonight. If you live in Kansas City, these could be the best 24 hours of your life. Last night just next door, the Chiefs routed the New England Patriots in front of a raucous crowd, which actually broke the sound record in an outdoor stadium. Now tonight, the Royals can make it a historic day in Kansas City. Who do you think will come out on top tonight, Kansas City or Oakland? I think the Royals will end their drought on their home field.
The winner of this game faces the Los Angeles Angels, and tomorrow night, the winner of the Pittsburgh vs San Francisco game will face the Washington Nationals. That game is in Pittsburgh, and if the environment is anything like last year, it’ll be crazy. After these two Wild Card Games, the Division Series games start on Thursday in Baltimore and Anaheim. It looks to be a great October, with some really great match ups. Let’s see who can come through, and finish as the Champion.
I got the Royals and Pirates for wild cards. I am going with the Dodgres and Orioles for the world series! What a divided household I would have!
Hey, I’m watching the game right now, and it seems your prediction will become the reality, Shields is looking great. My brother is at the stadium and says that it sure is rockin’.
You don’t know me, but I know you, you were very, very young the last time I saw you, I’m right about the same age as your brother Daniel and I met you playing in Liga maya, and gotta say that it’s pretty cool that you do this.
I’m really into baseball too and sabermetrics (I don’t write, though), so if you need help with that, or want to discuss something about baseball or need some ideas to write about, contact me at: yankee_l@msn.com. You can see what team I root for right off the bat!
