The buzz is palpable in Cleveland on Tuesday night, as Game 1 of the World Series gets underway. It’s not just another World Series by any means. It might be the most anticipated championship in Major League history, as the Chicago Cubs, holding the longest championship drought in professional sports at 108 years, face the Cleveland Indians, who haven’t won in 68 years. Baseball fans are ready for this historic match up between two starving fan-bases.
The series is a guarantee to be close, as well as highly tense. The eyes of the world will be watching to see if the “Love-able Losers” can bring a title to Chicago, or of the Indians can continue Cleveland’s 2016 sporting success and end a drought of their own. While it seems everybody wants the Cubs to break the historic streak, I think the Indians are under the radar and will surprise many. They are rested, healthy, and ready to strike. I’m picking the Indians in a series that will go a full seven games.
No matter who wins, the celebration will be epic. The winner will end years of frustration and heartbreak for their respective fans, and we all get to watch it happen.
