Crazy Game in Seattle, Seahawks Headed to Super Bowl

For the second consecutive year, the Seattle Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl. To get there, they fought in what was a crazy game, and in my opinion the best game I’ve ever seen. Russell Wilson had four interceptions, and Aaron Rodgers had two. The Packers missed early opportunities, not scoring touchdowns twice on goal to go situations. Those really came back to haunt them.

The Packers dominated the first half, yet they only led 16-0. In the third quarter with about four minutes left, the Seahawks were lined up for a field goal to make it 16-3. To the surprise of the world, it was a fake. Holder Jon Ryan ran out, then pulled back and lobbed it to Garry Gilliam for a touchdown to bring Seattle back to life.

The momentum had switched to Seattle, but Green Bay got a field goal, and continued to stop Seattle. With five minutes remaining, a Wilson interception trailing 19-7 signaled a clear loss for Seattle. A stop though got the Seahawks the ball back with four minutes. A quick drive down the field and a score made it 19-14 with just over two minutes left and a decision to be made. Onside kick, or deep kick? Pete Carroll decided for the onside, and miraculously, after a Green Bay bobble, Seattle recovered it!

Seattle, with all the momentum, drove down the field and scored, sending shock waves through the country. Aaron Rodgers was not done though, as he found a way to drive his team to field goal position, and Mason Crosby nailed a 48 yard field goal to send it to overtime. That is where the Seahawks, after receiving the kick, took care of destiny. a 35 yard pass to Jermaine Kearse landed in the end zone, and sent Seattle into a frenzy, and to the Super Bowl.

What a crazy finish to a crazy game. To me, Seattle will win the Super Bowl, but they’ll face a tough test in either Indianapolis or New England. Whatever happens there though, this NFC Championship Game will be one of the most remembered in history.
