The Orioles got a great performance from Kevin Gausman, and in the 7th inning took a what looked to be game sealing 6-1 lead. The Orioles got their runs on several base in the 7th, including a 2 run single from JJ Hardy. In taht same inning though, the Red Sox stormed back with a solo homer from David Ross, and many singles from Bradley, Holt, Ortiz, Nava and ultimately the game tying single from Napoli. You would have thought that wold break the Orioles, but it didn’t.
As they have done all year, the O’s never lost hope, and kept fighting. Brad Brach provided 3 scoreless innings to save what the Orioles had left in their bullpen. Leading off the 12th, David Lough, yes David Lough, got a triple in the gap, and later scored on JJ Hardy’s RBI game winning single. Zach Britton came in and with some help in Left from David Lough, yes David Lough again, got the save.
The Orioles are now a season high 8 games over .500 at 48-40, and are now 2 games ahead of Toronto, 3.5 ahead of New York, and 9 games ahead of the Rays and Red Sox.
