A quick 90 mile drive from Chicago found us in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Miller Park, home of the Brewers, sat a few miles outside the heart of the city in its own isolated area. This allowed huge parking lots to surround the stadium, which made for worry-free parking. We arrived a few hours before the game, even before the gates opened. Even this early, tailgaters filled our parking lot, and everyone was so nice and fun. A few college students even offered us some famous Wisconsin cheese at their tailgate.
The walk from our car to the stadium seemed fairly far, but fortunately a golf-cart drove past us and took us right to the ticket office, where we lined up for $1 Bob Uecker seats. These were seats named after Brewers radio broadcaster Bob Uecker, and they only sold about 100 tickets starting at 5:40 pm. Once we got our tickets, Adrian and I took a plethora of pictures outside before finally going in to Miller Park. That’s when I noticed I forgot my notebook and became furious. Thankfully, they let my mom out of the stadium and she went back to get it. During all this confusion, Adrian caught a ball in batting practice and I again got mad that he got one when I wasn’t paying attention. Adrian then told me to go to the upper deck in left field for home runs, so I went.
When my mom got back and saw me all alone in left field, she freaked out and I quickly returned to my family. Before the game began I ran down close to the field and managed to get Brandon Phillips’s autograph! We then walked around to the left field bleachers, where we watched most of the game. That’s where we met a Brewers supervisor and told him all about our trip, and he got so intrigued that he offered to take me down to the field to see the world famous sausage race in the 6th inning. When the 6th inning came around, the supervisor said since it was so hot, the mascots would put their suits on at the last minute and run right away, and he didn’t want me to miss the race. Instead he took me down closer to see them run.
After the race my family and I kept on walking around the entire lower level. We of course bought some hot dogs, a must have here in Milwaukee. The end of the game got really exciting, as Wily Peralta of the Brewers threw a complete game shutout and the Brewers won. I bought a shirt on the way out, and once again we caught a golf cart that drove us back to our car. Miller Park provided an extremely enjoyable experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. A trip back to Chicago was now on deck!
