The Baltimore Orioles came into their series with the Tigers with a lot of disadvantages on paper. Everyone kept saying how facing three Cy Young winning pitchers would just be too much. The Tigers have been so successful, that no one really gave the Orioles respect. The Orioles showed the world why they should. They faced Scherzer, and beat him. They faced Verlander, and beat him. They faced Price, and beat him.
After taking the first game 12-3. The Orioles came back to stun Detroit, with the help of Delmon Young. That was the game that really swung this series the Orioles way, but they still had to come back to Detroit. It was a tight pitchers duel, and it came down to the 9th inning. Buck Showalter again pushed the right buttons, walking a batter to make the double play possible. He got just that.
It’s time to party in Baltimore. They swept the Tigers in three amazing games. They are the first to clinch a ticket to the next round, and they’ll wait for the winner of the Angels and Royals. Game 1 of the ALCS will be on Friday in Baltimore, or Anaheim. Congrats to the Baltimore Orioles, and Buck Showalter on his first playoff series win. WOW!
